The story
The CD231 console is part of Dimoremilano's Limited Edition collection, signed by Emiliano Salci. The piece holds its structure lightly despite the weight of its references.
The body is lacquered wood, dark and rectangular, with a top in lighter lacquered wood and rounded orange ends that read almost sculptural against the piece's strict horizontal geometry. A cream-toned central pillar carries two glossy black supports, their curves referencing biological forms rather than architectural ones. Fish-shaped decorative elements, carved by hand from linden wood, extend from the central leg.
The structure is built in glossy lacquered wood with a polished gold-plated metal frame. The front flap on the top surface was preserved from an Empire-style piece dating to the 1800s, and the decorative elements at the base came from a 1930s console. All solid wood and veneered surfaces were finished using traditional Shellac polishing.
Like all pieces in the Limited Edition collection, the CD231 carries specific material histories that Salci chooses not to erase.
About Dimoremilano

Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci founded Dimoremilano in Milan, where their studio Dimorestudio continues to operate at the same address where the practice began. Moran, originally from North Carolina, came to design through graphic arts. Salci, born in Arezzo, Tuscany, worked as art director at Cappellini before the two met and began their collaboration in the city that shaped their work.
Dimoremilano does not separate decoration from architecture. The practice builds interiors from mid-century objects and furniture of their own making, drawing in modern art as a counterweight to the new. A salvaged sideboard and a painting share visual weight with custom metalwork: the room becomes a single argument rather than a series of choices. Their interiors resist easy categorization, sitting closer to antiquarian discipline than to contemporary styling.
