The story
The Slab Side Table sets three geometries in conversation. A solid oak cylinder, the column in its most direct form, supports a thick dark grey square top that extends past the base on all sides. Pressed into that overhanging surface, a recessed circular basin introduces a third shape: functional, precise, and quietly unexpected.
The overhang makes the weight-over-slender relationship explicit. The square top holds its position through compression logic, not decoration. The circular basin provides a practical counterpoint: a surface for a glass, a candle, any small object that needs to stay.
Materials reinforce the geometry. The cool dark stone-effect top reads as mass; the light cylindrical wood base reads as structural precision. Benni Allan uses material opposition to make structural ideas immediately readable, a method consistent across EBBA Architects' work from buildings through to furniture.

About Benni Allan
Benni Allan is the founder of EBBA Architects, a London studio working at the intersection of architecture, furniture, and visual arts. Born and raised in Spain and trained at UCL's Bartlett School of Architecture, he established EBBA in 2016 around a single conviction: buildings and objects should carry emotional weight alongside functional logic.
His approach centers on material precision and spatial restraint. Where other studios pursue novelty through technology, EBBA works through geometry and substance: solid oak, raw concrete, stone, forms reduced to their essential proportions. The Silo Collection (2025) and the Low Collection, a Dezeen Awards finalist produced with Béton Brut in 2022, show this method at its clearest. Each piece is CNC-milled and then hand-finished, with geometry doing the work of softening volumes that might otherwise read as severe.
Delivery
Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
