Custom or personalised pieces (made to your specifications: choice of a fabric, finish, lacquer or colour outside the standard options, modified dimensions, made-to-measure piece) can be neither returned nor exchanged. You are informed of this before you confirm your order.
This policy forms part of our Terms of Sale for Consumers and our Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers.

You are a Consumer if you buy for purposes outside your trade, business, craft, profession or agricultural activity. An order placed on the Website without an MS Pro account is treated as a consumer order.
Definitions (identical to the Terms of Sale): In-Stock Product means a finished piece available for immediate shipment; Made-to-Order Product means a piece from our catalogue made for you after your order, in a configuration offered on its product page; Custom Product means a piece made to your specifications or clearly personalised; Designer means the independent designer or workshop that designs and/or makes the piece. Your contract is with Monde Singulier only.
Part B — Consumers: right of withdrawal
B1. Your right
You have the right to withdraw from your purchase, without giving any reason, within 14 days from the day on which you, or a third party designated by you other than the carrier, take physical possession of the Product (Article L. 221-18 of the French Consumer Code). For an order of several Products delivered separately, the period runs from receipt of the last Product.
This right applies to orders placed on the Website and to sales concluded at a distance with our team (email, telephone, video call, quotation accepted online). It does not apply to a purchase concluded in our showroom.
B2. Products excluded from the right of withdrawal
Custom Products, that is Products made to your specifications or clearly personalised, can be neither returned nor exchanged (Article L. 221-28, 3° of the French Consumer Code). This includes in particular:
- the choice of a fabric, finish, lacquer or colour outside the standard options offered on the product page;
- modified dimensions, or any other change to the materials or design made at your request;
- a made-to-measure piece, entirely designed or developed for you;
- a personalisation specific to you (engraving, monogram, fabric supplied by you).
You are informed that a piece is a Custom Product before you confirm your order, and this is repeated in the Quotation and in the Order Confirmation.
The right of withdrawal applies to In-Stock Products and to Made-to-Order Products ordered in a standard configuration offered on their product page, even if they are manufactured after your order.
B3. How to withdraw
Before the 14-day period expires, inform us of your decision by a clear statement:
- by email to orders@monde-singulier.com;
- by post to MONDE SINGULIER, 73 rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, 75009 Paris, France;
- using the model withdrawal form in the Annex (optional);
- or by any other unambiguous statement of your decision.
We acknowledge receipt of your withdrawal without delay, by email.
B4. Returning the Product
You must return the Product within 14 days of informing us of your decision, unused, complete, in its original condition and, where possible, in its original packaging or crate.
Given the nature of our pieces, which cannot be returned by post, we organise collection with our carrier. The direct cost of return is borne by you; it does not exceed the delivery cost paid for that Product (as shown when you ordered or in your Quotation), and is confirmed to you before collection. You may also return the Product by your own means, at your cost and risk, to the address we give you.
You are liable only for any diminished value of the Product resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning (for example: assembly, installation, marks of use) (Article L. 221-23 of the French Consumer Code).
B5. Refund
We refund all sums you paid, including the initial delivery costs (except the additional cost of a delivery method more expensive than the standard delivery offered), within 14 days of being informed of your decision, using the same means of payment you used, unless you expressly agree to another means (Article L. 221-24 of the French Consumer Code). We may withhold the refund until we have received the Product back or you have supplied proof of having sent it back, whichever is earlier.
Import Charges (customs duties and import taxes) paid by you to the customs authorities of your country were not paid to us and cannot be refunded by us; you may be able to claim them back from those authorities.
If you used a promotional code, the refund covers the amount actually paid.
Part C — Professional Buyers: returns
C1. Sales are final. Made-to-Order and Custom Products cannot be returned or exchanged, except in case of transit damage (Part D), lack of conformity or defect (Part F).
C2. An In-Stock Product may be returned only with our prior written agreement, requested within 14 days of delivery, provided it is unused, complete and in its original packaging. Return transport and insurance are at your cost. No restocking fee is charged.
Part D — Transit damage (all buyers)
D1. Please follow the steps set out in Article 8 of our Delivery and Shipping Policy: examine the Product in the presence of the carrier before signing the delivery note, write precise reservations on that note, take photographs, keep the packaging, and notify us within 72 hours (calendar hours) of delivery at orders@monde-singulier.com, with photographs in support, your order number and the delivery note.
D2. For shipments arranged by Monde Singulier, we arrange, at our choice and at no cost to you, the repair, replacement or refund of the damaged Product, and we handle the claim with the carrier and the insurer.
D3. Professional Buyers: notice within 72 hours is a condition of the claim.
Consumers: notice within 72 hours helps us to act quickly and to recover the loss from the carrier; later notice does not deprive you of the legal guarantee of conformity (Part E).
Part E — Consumers: legal guarantees
E1. Legal guarantee of conformity and guarantee against hidden defects
As the seller, Monde Singulier is responsible for any lack of conformity existing at the time of delivery and appearing within two years of delivery (Articles L. 217-1 to L. 217-32 of the French Consumer Code), and for hidden defects (Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code). These guarantees apply regardless of any commercial warranty, and whether the Product was made by Monde Singulier or by a Designer.
If you live in another country, you also keep the benefit of the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence where they are more protective.
E2. Mandatory information on the legal guarantees
This notice is prescribed by the Annex to Article D. 211-2 of the French Consumer Code (Decree No. 2022-946 of 29 June 2022). The official wording is in French and appears on the French version of this page; the English translation below is provided for information.
The consumer has a period of two years from delivery of the goods to obtain the implementation of the legal guarantee of conformity in the event of a lack of conformity. During this period, the consumer only has to establish the existence of the lack of conformity, not the date on which it appeared.
Where the contract for the sale of the goods provides for the supply of digital content or a digital service on a continuous basis for a period of more than two years, the legal guarantee applies to that digital content or digital service throughout the intended period of supply. During this period, the consumer only has to establish the existence of the lack of conformity affecting the digital content or digital service, not the date on which it appeared.
The legal guarantee of conformity entails an obligation for the professional, where applicable, to provide all updates necessary to maintain the conformity of the goods.
The legal guarantee of conformity entitles the consumer to the repair or replacement of the goods within thirty days of the request, free of charge and without major inconvenience to the consumer.
If the goods are repaired under the legal guarantee of conformity, the consumer benefits from a six-month extension of the initial guarantee.
If the consumer requests repair of the goods but the seller imposes replacement, the legal guarantee of conformity is renewed for a period of two years from the date of replacement of the goods.
The consumer may obtain a reduction of the purchase price while keeping the goods, or terminate the contract and obtain a full refund against return of the goods, if:
1° the professional refuses to repair or replace the goods;
2° repair or replacement of the goods takes place after a period of thirty days;
3° repair or replacement of the goods causes a major inconvenience to the consumer, in particular where the consumer permanently bears the costs of taking back or removing the non-conforming goods, or bears the costs of installing the repaired or replacement goods;
4° the lack of conformity of the goods persists despite the seller's unsuccessful attempt to bring them into conformity.
The consumer is also entitled to a reduction of the price of the goods or to termination of the contract where the lack of conformity is so serious that it justifies an immediate price reduction or termination. The consumer is then not required to request repair or replacement of the goods first.
The consumer is not entitled to termination of the sale if the lack of conformity is minor.
Any period during which the goods are immobilised for repair or replacement suspends the guarantee that remained to run until the goods are handed back in working order.
The rights mentioned above result from the application of Articles L. 217-1 to L. 217-32 of the French Consumer Code.
A seller who in bad faith obstructs the implementation of the legal guarantee of conformity is liable to a civil fine of up to 300,000 euros, which may be increased to 10% of average annual turnover (Article L. 241-5 of the French Consumer Code).
The consumer also benefits from the legal guarantee against hidden defects under Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for a period of two years from the discovery of the defect. This guarantee entitles the consumer to a price reduction if the goods are kept, or to a full refund against return of the goods.
E3. What is not a lack of conformity
The following are not a lack of conformity, provided they were disclosed to you before your order (on the product page, in the Quotation or on this page): the natural variations of materials described in Part G; the characteristics of a Custom Product that you approved in writing. Damage caused after delivery by misuse, accident, lack of maintenance or unsuitable conditions of use is not covered.
E4. How to make a claim
Write to orders@monde-singulier.com with your order number or invoice, a description of the defect and photographs. We reply within 5 working days and, where needed, arrange an inspection. Repair or replacement is carried out within 30 days of your request, at no cost to you, including transport.
We do not currently offer any commercial warranty in addition to the legal guarantees.
Part F — Professional Buyers: Contractual Warranty
F1. Monde Singulier warrants that the Products conform to the Order Confirmation and to the specifications you approved, and are free from manufacturing defects, for 12 months from delivery.
F2. Any claim must be notified in writing, with photographs and a description, within 30 days of discovery of the defect and in any case before the end of the warranty period. You must allow Monde Singulier or the Designer to inspect the Product.
F3. If the claim is accepted, we repair or replace the Product or refund its price, at our choice. Transport costs of an accepted claim are borne by Monde Singulier.
F4. Exclusions: see Part G and Article 16.4 of the Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers.
F5. This Contractual Warranty does not exclude the legal guarantee against hidden defects where it applies by law (Articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code; Article 16.5 of the Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers).
Part G — Natural materials, use and care (all buyers)
G1. Our Products are handcrafted from natural materials. Variations in grain, veining, knots, colour, patina, texture and small irregularities are inherent to these materials and to handmade techniques. They make each piece unique and are not defects. On-screen colours and photographs are for illustration only.
G2. Natural materials react to their environment: wood may move with humidity and temperature; marble and stone are porous and may stain or be marked by acids; metals and leather develop a patina; some finishes change with exposure to light. Your sales associate can give you care advice for your Product.
G3. Unless expressly stated on the product page, Products are designed for indoor residential use. Outdoor use, or intensive use in a hotel or a space open to the public, must be agreed in writing before the order.
G4. Normal wear and tear, damage caused by misuse, accident, lack of maintenance, unsuitable conditions (humidity, heat, direct sunlight), or any modification, installation or repair by a third party, is not covered by the Contractual Warranty. For Consumers, this does not affect the legal guarantees in Part E.
