Delivery and Shipping
Version: DS-2026-10 — In force from: 21 October 2026
This policy forms part of our Terms of Sale for Consumers and our Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers. Where a rule differs between the two, the text says so expressly (Professional Buyers / Consumers).
1. Worldwide delivery
1.1. Monde Singulier delivers worldwide, except to countries and persons subject to sanctions of the European Union or France and to destinations our carriers do not serve. Most Products are made to order by independent Designers and shipped directly from the Designer's workshop to the delivery address. The workshop may be located in France, in another country of the European Union or outside the European Union.
1.2. The country of manufacture of each Product ("Made in") is shown on its product page.
1.3. Shipments are entrusted to carriers specialised in works of art and high-value furniture, selected by Monde Singulier.
2. Lead times
2.1. The production time shown on each product page ("Production & delivery") is the Designer's usual manufacturing time, in weeks, excluding transit. It runs from receipt of the Deposit (or of full payment) and, where applicable, from your written approval of drawings, finishes or samples.
2.2. Transit time depends on the origin, the destination and customs clearance, and is added to the production time. An estimate is given in the Quotation or when you order.
2.3. Professional Buyers: lead times are estimates (Article 10 of the Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers).
2.4. Consumers: the latest delivery date is the end of the production time plus the transit time, both stated before you order, and is binding on Monde Singulier; we confirm it to you by email on request (Article 7 of the Terms of Sale for Consumers; Article L. 216-1 of the French Consumer Code).
2.5. We will inform you as soon as possible of any foreseeable delay.
3. Shipping costs and quotation
3.1. Shipping costs depend on the Product's dimensions, weight, crating, origin, destination and service level. They are shown when you order where they can be calculated online, or quoted by our team.
3.2. Where the shipping cost cannot be calculated online, the Website shows "Shipping to be quoted". No payment is taken at that stage: our team emails you a shipping quotation and a payment link within 2 working days. The shipping quotation is valid for 14 days; reminders are sent during that period and, if it is not accepted and paid in time, your order request is cancelled at no cost to you and we tell you so by email.
3.3. Shipping costs cover, as stated in the Quotation: crating and packaging, collection from the workshop, carriage, insurance and the delivery service chosen. They do not include customs duties, import VAT and other taxes and charges of the country of destination (Article 6), unless the Quotation expressly states otherwise.
4. Crating and packaging
4.1. Products are packed and, where necessary, crated in wooden crates suited to their fragility and to international transport.
4.2. Crating may be carried out by the Designer, the carrier, a specialised crating company or, at your request, by yourself; in the latter case you are responsible for the protection of the Product.
4.3. With white-glove delivery, packaging and crates are taken away by the carrier, unless you ask to keep them. If you notice damage, ask the carrier to leave the packaging, or photograph it before it is removed (Article 8).
5. Delivery services
5.1. The service level chosen is stated in the Quotation or when you order:
- (a) curbside delivery: the Products are unloaded and left at the foot of the building; you bring them inside and unpack them;
- (b) white-glove delivery: the Products are carried to the room of your choice and unpacked, and the packaging is taken away. White-glove delivery does not include assembly, installation or fixing of the Products.
5.2. Access. Before ordering, you must make sure that the Products (and, where applicable, their crates) can be brought to their destination: doors, staircases, lifts, corridors, parking and street access, any building or authority permission. You must inform us in writing of any constraint (floor without a lift, restricted access, delivery hours, need for a hoist). Additional costs caused by an undisclosed constraint (hoist, extra handlers, second attempt) are charged to you at cost; for a Consumer, only if the Consumer was informed of them before the order.
5.3. Appointment. The carrier contacts you to schedule the delivery. If delivery fails because you are absent or for a reason attributable to you, the costs of the new attempt and of storage are charged to you at cost.
5.4. Installation. Monde Singulier does not install the Products, including under white-glove delivery. Installation may be requested on a separate quotation. Otherwise, fixing to walls or ceilings, electrical connection of lighting and any work on the building must be carried out by a qualified professional under your responsibility.
6. Customs duties and import taxes
6.1. Deliveries within the European Union from a workshop located in the European Union involve no customs formalities.
6.2. Deliveries outside the European Union, or from a workshop located outside the European Union (for instance to the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or the Middle East), involve export and import formalities. Customs duties, import VAT or sales taxes and any other taxes, fees or charges of the country of destination (together "Import Charges") are payable by you, as importer, unless the Quotation expressly states that they are included.
6.3. Import Charges are set by the authorities of the country of destination and may change. Our team can give you an indication before you order, for information only. They are usually collected by the carrier or its customs broker before or at delivery.
6.4. You must provide any information or document required for customs clearance (identification number, tax number, importer registration where required). Delays, storage and additional costs resulting from missing information or from non-payment of Import Charges are payable by you.
6.5. If you refuse or abandon a shipment at destination, the price remains due (subject, for Consumers, to the right of withdrawal where it applies); return transport, storage and, where applicable, destruction costs and unrecoverable Import Charges are deducted from any refund or charged to you.
6.6. Incoterms (Professional Buyers). Unless the Quotation states otherwise: DAP (Incoterms® 2020) at the delivery address when Monde Singulier arranges transport; FCA (Incoterms® 2020) at the collection address when you arrange transport yourself. See Article 11 of the Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers.
7. Insurance and transfer of risk
7.1. Every shipment arranged by Monde Singulier is insured, from collection at the workshop until delivery, for the value of the Products shown on the invoice and, in the event of total loss, the transport costs.
7.2. Consumers: the risk of loss or damage passes to you when you, or a third party designated by you other than the carrier, take physical possession of the Products. If you choose your own carrier, not proposed by us, the risk passes when the Products are handed over to that carrier (Article L. 216-4 of the French Consumer Code).
7.3. Professional Buyers: the risk passes as provided by the applicable Incoterm (Article 6.6): on delivery at the agreed address (DAP), or on handover to your carrier (FCA).
7.4. Transport arranged by you. If you arrange collection yourself, you must tell us the identity of the carrier and the collection date, collect the Products within 30 days of being notified that they are ready, and ensure suitable packaging and handling. Monde Singulier is not responsible for damage occurring after handover to your carrier. Where the Products leave the European Union, you must provide us with the proof of export issued by your carrier or by customs (Article 11.1 (b) of the Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers).
8. Receiving your delivery
8.1. On delivery:
- (a) examine the crates, packaging and Products in the presence of the carrier, where possible, before signing the delivery note;
- (b) write precise reservations on the delivery note in case of damage, missing item or doubt (for instance "crate broken on one corner, table top scratched"; a mention such as "subject to unpacking" alone is not sufficient);
- (c) take photographs of the packaging and of the Products;
- (d) keep all packaging until any claim is closed.
8.2. Notify us within 72 hours (calendar hours) of delivery at orders@monde-singulier.com, with photographs in support, your order number and a copy of the delivery note.
8.3. Professional Buyers: these formalities are conditions of any claim for transit damage (Article 13 of the Terms of Sale for Professional Buyers).
8.4. Consumers: these steps help us to obtain compensation from the carrier and to solve the problem quickly. They do not reduce your legal rights: the Products travel at our risk until you take possession of them, and you keep the benefit of the legal guarantee of conformity (see our Returns, Withdrawal and Warranties page).
8.5. In case of transit damage notified as above, we arrange, at our choice and at no cost to you, the repair, replacement or refund of the damaged Products (and, for Consumers, in accordance with the legal guarantee of conformity).
9. Partial deliveries and storage
9.1. An order of Products from several Designers may be delivered in several shipments. Shipping costs are those stated in the Quotation.
9.2. If you ask us to postpone delivery, or do not take delivery within 30 days of being notified that the Products are ready, storage, handling and insurance costs are charged to you at cost after that period.
10. Tracking
Once your order has shipped, we email you the carrier's details and, where available, a tracking link.
