The Château Chair is an armchair by Atelier de Troupe, part of the Pedregal Collection.
The piece is built around a substantial wooden frame with rich brown tones and a prominent natural grain. Angular side panels and a solid base give the structure an architectural weight that defines the piece's visual presence. Set within this frame, the backrest is upholstered in dark grey velvet with a channeled detail: a series of parallel vertical grooves that introduce a decorative rhythm while preserving the overall restraint of the composition.
The meeting between the soft velvet and the hard wood is the central tension in the Château Chair. The curves of the upholstered forms sit against the sharp lines of the frame, producing a dialogue between the domestic and the architectural that runs through the Pedregal Collection.
Each piece is inspired by Mexican modernist architecture and made to order in Atelier de Troupe's Los Angeles studio by Gabriel Abraham's team of craftsmen working with natural materials.

About
De Troupe
Gabriel Abraham founded Atelier de Troupe in Los Angeles in 2011, drawing on fifteen years as a production designer for film and television. Born in Switzerland and raised in Aix-en-Provence, Abraham moved to Los Angeles in 1995. His transition into object design began in the Schindler-designed Bubeshko Apartments, where he started building lamps to complement the modernist interior. That origin tells you everything about his approach: the studio conceives each piece like a film set, building atmosphere before committing to form.
The aesthetic draws from Bauhaus minimalism, French Art Deco, and the cinematic design of 1960s Italy. Working with brass, bronze, hand-blown glass, and steel, Abraham produces lighting and furniture made to order in the studio's 4,500-square-foot atelier in West Adams, each piece built by artisans based in Los Angeles.
Signature series such as the Pedregal collection, worked in glazed lava stone and wood inspired by Mexican modernist architecture, and the Empire lighting series, presented at Milan Design Week, illustrate the studio's formal range. Selected as a Rising Talent at Maison&Objet Paris in 2019, Atelier de Troupe has earned recognition across the collectible design field for its luxury handcrafted lighting and furniture.
