The Invitation Console is a sculptural beech console table from the Antoine Maurice Collection, its long pale top suspended above a dark, organically curved base.
The base is the defining element: dark beech worked to a near-reflective surface, with a central open void that frames an internal negative space. The pale horizontal surface and the dark sculptural volume below are in deliberate contrast. Antoine Maurice named the piece for its position: entry hall, threshold, the passage between outside and in.
Made in France. Limited edition.
W 250 x D 30 x H 80 cm
W 98.43 x D 11.81 x H 31.5 in

About
Antoine Maurice
Born in the early 1990s, Antoine Maurice lives and works in the Yvelines, France.
A self-taught artist, he founded his studio to develop his own approach to design, which blends functional objects and art.
Antoine aspires to create unique, handcrafted pieces that blur the line between functional objects and sculpture.
He has developed a creative process rooted in observation and experimentation, incorporating prototypes and research. He places particular emphasis on elements such as texture, sensuality, curves, shine, and light, which enrich his creations.
His inspiration comes from both humanity and nature, allowing for a harmonious fusion between these two worlds. By designing pieces that accompany people's daily lives while drawing inspiration from natural forms and materials, Antoine reconciles humanity with its environment. This approach underscores the idea that design is not limited to functionality but can also evoke a deep connection with the natural world.
Using high-quality French wood, often reclaimed and meticulously selected, he creates works that transcend the functional object to become evocative sculptures.
By incorporating environmental concerns into his practice, he strives to create unique pieces that honor both humanity's cultural heritage and the intrinsic beauty of nature. This approach fosters a dialogue between art and everyday life, while highlighting the importance of sustainable and thoughtful creation.
