About the collection
The Antoine Maurice collection brings together nine objects where function and sculpture meet. Chairs, benches, consoles, a lamp and a coffee table: each piece begins as a block of reclaimed French oak and arrives at a form that is as much carved image as usable furniture.
Oak is the constant. Antoine Maurice selects his wood carefully, favouring pieces with pronounced grain, patina or curvature. The material dictates form rather than following it. Surfaces are worked by hand, and the process leaves its trace: in the weight of a bench seat, the curve of a console leg, the grain that catches light differently at each hour of the day.
The nine pieces in this collection cover the full range of domestic spaces. The Alma Chair and the Moon and Orphée Benches define seating with deliberate simplicity. The Flip, Flip Small and Invitation Consoles, along with the Corcovado Lighted Console, extend into display and circulation spaces. The Spectre Lamp and the Tb03 Coffee Table complete the programme. Most pieces take a name from outside the object's function (Orphée, Spectre, Corcovado, Moon), and the collection reads as a unified vocabulary rather than a catalogue.
Antoine Maurice founded his studio in 2017 in the Yvelines. His practice centres on the recovery of quality French wood and its transformation into limited objects. Galerie Philia in Geneva, New York and Singapore, and Anne Jacquemin Sablon in Paris, both represent his work internationally.
