Max Bill (1908-1994) was a Swiss architect, artist and designer who studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau and later cofounded the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm. A leading figure of concrete art, he applied the same mathematical clarity to design: the Ulm stool, clocks for Junghans and furniture for Horgen Glarus. His paintings, sculptures and objects are widely collected, and early editions of his designs are especially sought after.
