Porto Chair No5 is the most figurative piece in the Porto Chair series from Project 213A. Its backrest, carved from a single solid panel of dark walnut, takes the form of an upward-reaching shape, two outer extensions rising and the central form contracting inward, a silhouette that sits between geometric abstraction and recognizable gesture. At the base, two elegant arched cutouts create open structural supports that draw the eye downward and anchor the expressive backrest above.
Hand carved in solid walnut by skilled artisans in Northern Portugal, the chair carries the dense grain of the timber through the carving process. The natural variation in walnut's grain, especially visible across the carved surfaces, contributes to the distinctiveness of each individual piece.
Porto Chair No5 belongs to the Project 213A Collection, the first furniture range by Project 213A, a design house founded in 2021 by Jurgita Dileviciute, Theresa Marx, and Clement Deboeuf. Like the other pieces in the collection, it takes its name from a Portuguese city, acknowledging the regional artisan tradition at the heart of the project.

Project 213A
Project 213A is a Portuguese design house founded in 2021 by Jurgita Dileviciute, Theresa Marx, and Clement Deboeuf. The name comes from a London address where each founder lived at separate points during their studies, a shared geography that preceded their professional collaboration.
The idea for the studio took shape during the 2020 lockdown, when the three founders combined their professional backgrounds to build something together. Project 213A has operated from in-house ceramic and wood workshops in Northern Portugal since its launch, working alongside skilled local artisans whose traditional craftsmanship shapes every piece in the catalog.
The studio's design philosophy is built around durability over trend. Each object is made to last decades, not to fit a particular season's aesthetic. Collections carry the names of Portuguese cities and regions, a practice that grounds the work in the territory and the communities whose making traditions the brand draws from.
The range spans handcrafted ceramics and handmade wooden furniture, both produced locally with artisan techniques developed over generations in Northern Portugal. This focus on Portuguese craftsmanship and material integrity distinguishes Project 213A within the contemporary European design studio landscape.
