The Oni Coffee Table is a low table with an organically shaped variegated stone top and three short brushed metal legs, from the Coexist collection by Slash Objects.
Arielle Assouline-Lichten selected a stone for the Oni whose coloring does not resolve into a single tone. The top shows shifting fields of green, beige, and reddish-brown with veining that runs in no fixed direction, giving each table a character specific to the block it came from. The form of the top is irregular rather than rectangular, following the natural contour of the stone rather than imposing geometry on it. Three short cylindrical legs in brushed silver-toned metal support the piece; their machined precision sets off the organic quality of the stone above.
Variegated stone of this type forms through the slow deposition of mineral layers over geological time. The color range within a single slab can span the full warm-to-cool spectrum. No two Oni Coffee Tables are identical, and the design by Arielle Assouline-Lichten makes that condition central rather than incidental.
Part of the Coexist collection, the Oni Coffee Table is made to order by skilled artisans and available through Monde Singulier.

About
Slash Objects
Arielle Assouline-Lichten is an artist, architect, and multidisciplinary designer whose work explores materiality, ephemerality, and the pursuit of form. Her approach to furniture design is rooted in elevating overlooked source materials to create bespoke elegance. She is the founder of Slash Objects, a studio based in New York and Paris, that works at the tension between the natural world and man-made processes.
Arielle has studied and worked in Copenhagen and Tokyo, shaping her minimal and intentional aesthetic. Her signature collection Coexist plays with balance and harmony, probing the intersection between materials. Her collection Unbroken explores transience, celebrates imperfection, and questions the ephemeral nature of materials over time.
Guided by an architectural ethos, every piece is a study in balance and structure, built to answer equally to function and form. Each piece is made to order by world-class artisans, creating collectible furniture that roots together earth, hand, mind and body. Her work is available on Monde Singulier.
