About
Amare
Bertille is a French artist, recently settled in Siena, Italy, where she continues her career as a stylist, art director, and illustrator for major fashion houses. Her work revisits materials and colors from a fresh perspective. Straddling the line between formal and informal, she explores the accidents of movement, listens to their traces, and composes signs from them.
She layers emotions, tames impulses. Antithesis is the cornerstone of her artistic practice. She works with acrylic paint, preparing the medium herself from pigments, as well as ink, which offers complete fluidity to the gesture.
“Nothing is abstract in my painting,” she would tell you—“everything is meaningful, if one resists the order of discourse.” The spontaneity of her gesture reveals the full sensitivity of her language and the poetry of her world, reinforced by the use of a vocabulary reduced to the bare essentials.
