L'histoire
This beautiful desk table or dining table was designed by Paolo Buffa in Italy in the 1940s. The warm mix of rosewood and birdseye maple remains looking healthy and smooth eighty plus years later. The waving shaped feet is really a beautiful work. The table top is made of black opaline glass. The piece feels delightfully modern for the period and charmingly vintage now. It is a very fine example of high-quality Italian design and craftsmanship by Paolo Buffa, with a beautiful construction and finish. It has been fully refinished, and is in great vintage condition.
À propos de Paolo Buffa
Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) was a Milanese architect and furniture designer who trained at the Politecnico di Milano and worked with Gio Ponti early in his career. Close to the Novecento movement, he designed elegant furniture produced by skilled Cantù workshops, often in fine woods with ebonised details, brass and glass. Collectors value his cabinets, desks and seating for their neoclassical refinement and superb craftsmanship.
