L'histoire
This elegant André Arbus pair of gueridons is sure to add an element of French neoclassicism chic to any room. It was designed and produced by André Arbus in the late 1940s. With shapely sycamore wood structure, tapered legs, brass sabots and inlays, these tables are a wonderful example of the French neoclassicism of André Arbus. They have been fully restored, wood revarnished, brass repolished, and are in a beautiful condition.
À propos de André Arbus
André Arbus (1903-1969) was a French decorator, architect and sculptor from Toulouse, trained in his family's cabinetmaking workshop. He became a leading figure of the modern neoclassical style of the 1930s and 1940s, working with parchment, lacquer, fine veneers and gilt bronze, often in collaboration with the sculptor Vadim Androusov. He furnished embassies, ocean liners and official interiors. Collectors prize his pieces for their proportion, refined materials and discreet classical references.
