The Médano Chair in velvet works the same architectural vocabulary as the bouclé version, but the material and color shift the character of the piece entirely. Here, the upholstery is a deep forest green velvet, dense and light-absorbent, that intensifies the sculptural geometry. The multi-tiered stepped profile reads darker and more monumental in this finish.
Velvet brings a different sensory register: structured where bouclé is cosy, formal where it is casual. The forest green holds the eye, a statement color that remains within Estudio Persona's controlled, muted palette. The integrated armrests and low-slung seat maintain the same modular logic as across the collection.
Made to order in Los Angeles by Emiliana Gonzalez and Jessie Young, in collaboration with local manufacturers. A piece that translates Brutalist minimalism into an upholstered form with a distinctive chromatic weight.

About
Estudio Persona
Estudio Persona was founded in Los Angeles in 2015 by Emiliana Gonzalez, an industrial designer from Uruguay, and Jessie Young, an artist. Their meeting in California sparked a collaboration that fused two distinct disciplines into a singular practice: sculptural minimalist furniture built from raw, honest materials.
Their design philosophy draws from Art Deco geometry, brutalist construction principles, and the reductive logic of minimalism. Inspired by Carl Andre's modular sculptures and Tadao Ando's refined modernism, Gonzalez and Young aim to capture what they describe as "the raw and honest beauty of Brutalism." Pieces carry bold silhouettes, neutral tones, and a quiet, functional presence.
Each object begins with a conceptual narrative or sculptural investigation. Material constraints and production limitations actively shape the final form, a tension Estudio Persona treats not as obstacles but as parameters for discovery. The studio works with a focused palette of raw materials: wood, leather, steel, glass, and bronze. Untreated, natural finishes preserve each material's integrity, while contrasts between hard and soft surfaces add depth to the sensory experience.
Production is made-to-order, in collaboration with skilled local manufacturers in Los Angeles. This commitment to small-scale, craft-led production reflects both the studio's respect for traditional artisanship and a deliberate choice against waste.
Notable works include the Connection Collection, which explores repetition and geometric form; the Nido Series of curved sculptural seating; and the Arrow Table, directly inspired by Brancusi's Endless Column.
