The Plain Sofa is a low-profile three-seater from the Karina Sukar Collection, designed in Beirut by Karina Sukar Design Studio.
The sofa reads as horizontal layers: individual seat cushions and a back in black leather, a light wood frame running below as a structural rail, and slender dark metal legs angled outward. This layering avoids the monolithic quality of fully upholstered sofas, giving the piece a visual transparency closer to furniture design than to conventional seating.
Black leather covers the seat cushions, back, and rounded armrests. The wood frame, positioned below the leather rather than above it, introduces warmth without softening the overall line. Individual cushions, not fixed to the back, allow some variation in arrangement.
The Plain Sofa shares its material language with the Plain Armchair from the same collection, designed to work together in residential and hospitality settings.

Karina Sukar founded her interior architecture studio in Beirut in 1996, building a practice that now serves residential and commercial clients across Lebanon, Europe, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
Karina Sukar Design Studio operates across two disciplines: comprehensive interior design and architecture services from concept through turnkey delivery, and the design and manufacture of bespoke furniture and accessories. The furniture practice grew from a concrete observation: standard off-the-shelf pieces could not meet the standards her high-end residential projects demanded. Today, custom furniture design sits at the center of the studio's offer, with each piece conceived in Beirut and finished by a network of specialist artisans.
Sukar maintains close oversight of every project, working alongside a team of architects and designers who handle commissions of varying scale. Precision runs through the studio's working method: delivery on time, to specification, within budget. That discipline, consistent across thirty years of practice, anchors a reputation that extends well beyond Lebanon.
The portfolio spans high-end residential interiors and commercial spaces across multiple countries. Many clients return for successive commissions.
