The Winston Drinks Unit is a bar cabinet from Kevin Frankental's Lemon Collection, designed for the storage and display of spirits and bar accessories.
The bar cabinet has a long furniture lineage, from Victorian tantalus frames to mid-century cocktail cabinets. These are forms charged with ritual and display, designed to be opened in company and seen when closed. Frankental's approach at Lemon is to excavate that lineage and produce something that belongs to it without copying any specific precedent.
The Winston Drinks Unit holds bottles, glasses, and accessories within a piece designed to be seen as well as used. In the Lemon archive, it sits alongside the Winston Server as part of a paired approach to serving and storage in the same room.
For collectors of South African furniture design, the Winston Drinks Unit offers a functional object shaped by the same archival, anti-trend thinking that runs through the Lemon Collection.

Lemon's creative process involves delving into archives: historical design, film, art, fashion, or anything that sparks inspiration. Sometimes, it's as simple as an old, beautiful photograph. From these influences, Lemon creates pieces that are a contemporary nod to the past. Each item is thoughtfully designed to be useful and needed, often inspired by objects they would love to own but cannot find elsewhere.
The result is elegantly simple pieces designed for everyday use and admiration. Each creation evokes nostalgia and romance while staying true to traditional craftsmanship, sitting naturally in contemporary spaces.
