Whoody
By José Lévy
About the collection
The name of the collection, Whoody, evokes wood, a friendly neighbourhood, and also a hoodie—something you feel comfortable in. It also recalls a familiar first name: cosy and intimate, yet expressed with clean lines.
The collection was originally created for José’s own home in a black burnt wood version, much like the Arbre Lumière, which was first designed for his Perrotin exhibition.
For Monde Singulier, José Lévy has extended the collection with a second version: a very dark green lacquer with mirror-effect metal details, playing on the illusion games he so enjoys.
The collection’s structure is built on a subtle dialogue between furniture and architecture. The interplay of faces on the furniture legs creates a visual rhythm that resonates with architectural lines.
