About the collection
Sizar Alexis designs furniture and objects at the intersection of Brutalist geometry, Mesopotamian cultural heritage, and Scandinavian material restraint.
Based in Eskilstuna, Sweden, Alexis draws on Chaldean ancestry rooted in ancient Iraq and an earlier career as a design engineer at Volvo. His pieces work with blackened steel, solid pine, and leather: materials chosen for durability and their capacity to improve with use. The forms are monolithic and geometric, weighted but serene.
Works such as the Lahmu collection, presented at the Design Museum in London, the Ode objects, and the Ousia series shown at Atelier Ecru in Ghent carry that dual identity into domestic space. Named to the AD 100 list, Alexis produces pieces that hold equal ground as furniture and sculpture.
His full range on Monde Singulier spans furniture, candle holders, and decorative objects.
