Racines
By Aède Studios
About the collection
"Racines" is French for roots. The name is exact: this debut collection by Aède Studios traces a specific cultural lineage, built on three years of research into little-known Russian Art Deco, shaped by the theatrical legacy of Sergei Diaghilev and the neoclassical discipline of Igor Stravinsky.
From that research, Aède assembled a formal vocabulary drawn from medieval Russian and Eastern European motifs, folk iconography, and architectural precedent. The anchor piece, the Khram dining table, takes its structural form from the trapezoidal silhouettes of medieval Russian tent-roof buildings: legs wide at the shoulder, tapering precisely toward the floor, handcrafted from figured mahogany.
Racines does not romanticize its sources. Every formal decision is grounded in documented cultural material. That rigor is the studio's founding proposition: each collection is a translation of a specific cultural inheritance into contemporary luxury furniture, made by hand in Europe.
