About the collection
The Pierre Chapo collection at Monde Singulier gathers works by the French designer whose atelier, Chapo Création, has maintained production in solid wood since 1958.
Chapo's approach grew from an architectural formation at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and travels to North America, resulting in furniture where joinery itself becomes visible structure. The pieces use solid oak and elm, finished with linseed oil, and rely on traditional assembly systems that remain legible in every piece.
The collection includes signature works such as the T01 table, the S01 stool, and the L01 Godot bed, originally commissioned by Samuel Beckett. Pieces such as the B17 bookshelf and the T35 Aban table extend Chapo's broader exploration of form through wood. Today, Chapo Création, directed by Zoran Chapo, continues to produce these designs from its atelier in Gordes, Vaucluse.
