La Mante Religieuse

La Mante Religieuse is the result of a specific pairing: Rispal, the historic French lighting house now guided by designer Douglas Mont, and Lucas Castex, a French sculptor whose practice centers on wood grain and handmade texture.

The collaboration began with the lamp's existing form: a multi-legged, biomorphic silhouette that Rispal developed decades ago and never retired. For this exclusive edition, Rispal and Castex worked closely on the material, choosing the wood species, shade, and surface that would reinforce the deep charcoal base without overwriting the lamp's original structure. The result adds a tactile layer to a piece that was already sculptural by design.

The pleated off-white shade remains: a soft sphere suspended at the end of a slender organic arm.
