Intersecting Volume

By Rino Claessens

About the collection

Intersecting Volume starts with geometry: what happens when two curved volumes cross. From that question, Rino Claessens has built a complete furniture family: side table, coffee table, and bench, each made in solid walnut or stained ash, available in two finishes.

The smooth finish lets the grain speak. The gouged version goes further. Each piece is hand-worked, chisel marks left across the surface as a record of the making. The pieces sit between furniture and sculpture.

Known primarily for ceramics, Claessens brings the same workshop discipline to wood. The material is examined before it is shaped. Intersecting Volume is an MS Exclusive.
