The story

Rare desk chair or side chair by Elizabeth Garouste & Mattia Bonetti, model Palace, made in solid oak painted in matte black panted. Garouste & Bonetti began their collaboration and gained global recognition for their interior design of the Paris nightclub Le Palace in 1979, when Fabrice Eamer ask them to create the decoration, and these chairs were specifically designed for the restaurant Le Privilege in Le Palace nightclub. The chair has been newly upholstered using a Rubelli cotton fabric with a playful patter. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a part of modern design history.

About Garouste & Bonetti

Elizabeth Garouste (born 1949) and Mattia Bonetti (born 1952) worked together in Paris from 1980-2002. Their Barbarian furniture of 1981 challenged modernist orthodoxy with rough materials and archaic forms, and in 1987 they designed the couture house of Christian Lacroix. Their pieces, shown at Galerie Néotu and later David Gill, mix bronze, wrought iron, wood, rope and colour. Collectors seek numbered editions and early one-off works.
