The story
The Thing 3 Ottoman Round is a cylindrical hand-stitched ottoman from the Konekt Collection, upholstered in black velvet and finished with a polished brass band and a dense horsehair fringe base.
Black velvet covers the top and sides, giving the ottoman a contained, dark surface. At the lower perimeter, a polished brass band marks the transition to the base register, its warm metallic tone contrasting with the velvet's depth. Below the band, dense natural horsehair fringe in light brown completes the form, the contrast of textures between velvet and fiber deliberate and structural.
This three-part sequence of textile, metal, and raw fiber is the defining material logic of the Thing 3 series. Each element is distinct in character, and each occupies a clear zone within the piece. The result is an ottoman that holds visual weight without relying on surface decoration.
An expanded version of Konekt's Thing 3 Stool, the Thing 3 Ottoman Round is scaled for central use in a living room. Available in round, oval, pill, and custom shapes. Handmade in Pennsylvania by Helena and Natasha Sultan.
About Konekt
Konekt is a sculptural furniture and lighting studio based in Pennsylvania, led by mother-daughter team Helena and Natasha Sultan. Their practice starts from material: its physical properties, its craft histories, and what happens when unexpected materials are brought together with traditional ones.
Helena and Natasha produce handcrafted furniture and lighting that pairs contrasting qualities in a single object. Strength and fragility, solidity and fluidity, refinement and play: these are not tensions the work resolves, but tensions the work is made of. Each piece carries that balance in its surface, its form, and its finish.
All work is made by hand in Pennsylvania and surrounding areas by local artisans. The studio's process is defined by materiality: textures are left in dialogue, contrasting finishes are set side by side, and the human touch remains legible in the finished object.
Konekt draws on both historical craft techniques and contemporary design references to produce work that holds a clear aesthetic position within American collectible furniture and handcrafted lighting. Helena and Natasha Sultan have built a body of work that refuses easy categorization: it is handcrafted but not nostalgic, contemporary but not fashionable. The studio's collection on Monde Singulier includes furniture and lighting objects that represent the full range of this approach, from seating and tables to statement lighting.

Every piece is packed and shipped under insurance, from the workshop to you. White glove delivery (unpacking, installation, packaging removal) is available on request. Delivery is not charged at checkout: we send you a quote within 24 business hours of your order. You have 5 days to accept and pay it (secure payment link or bank transfer), otherwise your order is cancelled and fully refunded.
