A rectangular shade crafted from dark brown walnut uses exposed dovetail joinery as both construction method and surface detail. The slender chrome pole supporting the shade is adjustable, and it meets the base at a pyramidal wooden plinth. Clean lines, close tolerances, no ornament beyond what construction requires.

The shade is solid walnut with dovetail joinery. The pole is polished chrome. The base is a pyramidal walnut plinth. Disderot produces the AR1 as a numbered reissue, each piece accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Abraham and Rol designed the AR series for Disderot during the postwar decades, treating the floor lamp as a piece of furniture in its own right.
